Librettist

Writing librettos for modern opera I have had 5 operas staged.

The first was “Brand” [Fire] with composer Niels Rosing-Schouw, performed at Lerchenborg in 1989.

"Den Sidste Virtuos" [The Last Virtuoso] with composer Lars Klit (1994) was shortlisted as Opera of the Year in the German Magazine Opernwelt, and has been performed by three different German theatres and been on tour to Paris, on top of the Danish stagings.

Following that I wrote 3 operas that were for me an exploration of the scientific worldview that has been central to the shaping of the separation from and exploitation of nature that has led us to the global ecological crises that we are caught in. Among them “Systema Naturae”  from 1997 about Carl Von Linne was the most interesting.

All in all I worked with new music theatre for almost 20 years, peaking with a commission for a full size opera at the Royal Danish Opera in 2003, ”IKON®” about branding, business and boardroom megalomania.

After that I spent 3 years trying to create a venue for alternative ways of collaboration as the artistic director of the interdisciplinary hub PLEX in Copenhagen, where I also conceived the interactive performance "GO TO GATE" about, what I described as : "The Anxiety Industrial Complex”.

I have also written 4 plays; one in English "Vita & Violet" (1994) had a public reading at the Pride Theatre Ensemble and was shortlisted in the British Council International New Playwriting Awards.
